Rudel, flying with 10.(Pz)/SG 2 "Immelmann," utilized this tank-busting variant in the summer of 1944 during the intense battles near Husi, Romania. In August 1944, the German forces were engaged in desperate defensive operations as Soviet troops advanced relentlessly through Romania.
